| Candra Megah released single titled "Gerhana" |
Candra Megah released his second single, titled "Gerhana," on Novembert 1, 2024. Collaborating with singer-songwriter Christabel Annora from Malang, this release under Bulan Penuh Records is now available on various digital platforms.
PojokSeni/Malang - In essence, “Gerhana” carries a simple message. It tells the story of someone heartbroken by unfulfilled dreams. “I think many people have felt frustrated by failures in life, but sometimes they don’t have enough opportunities to admit those defeats,” said Candra.
Legend has it, the song was completed in a single day. It was written based on a friend's story. One night, that friend collapsed and vented endlessly about the complexities of life, including the dreams crushed by reality.
“My task was to romanticize it all,” said the man who considers Bintang Lima by Dewa to be the greatest album in Indonesian music history.
For his second single, Candra invited renowned pianist-singer Christabel Annora from Malang. Ista (as she’s fondly called) contributed vocals, played piano, and even co-produced "Gerhana."
“From the start, the foundation of the song was the piano with added female backing vocals. But I’m not that skilled at playing the piano, and it felt like a waste to only use MIDI,” said Candra. “I wanted to record it in one take, to capture the human feel.”
“And there was no other name in my head besides Christabel Annora. A brilliant songwriter, an exceptional pianist, and a beautiful voice. Complete package!”

Candra produced and mixed the track himself, but the mastering was entrusted to Rhesa Aditya from Endah N' Rhesa. “I love Mas Rhesa’s mastering work, so I wanted him to handle the post-production,” Candra added.
Who is Candra Megah?
Candra Megah, born in Mojokerto, fell in love with music at an early age. He’s a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer. His touch has influenced bands around him, from Soekarno Straat, holigrey, to Amorfati. His roles may vary, but his one love remains: crafting sound.
“Language is limited, but sound is an infinite landscape,” he says about his passion for sonic arrangements.
"Gerhana" will be part of Candra’s debut album, which is currently in the works. He plans to release another single by the end of the year.
